Southeastern Peach, Nectarine, and Plum Pest Management and Culture Guide
Southeastern Peach, Nectarine, and Plum Pest Management and Culture Guide

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension compiled its 2024 Southeastern Peach, Nectarine, and Plum Pest Management and Culture Guide. For peach growers in the southeast, the guide recommends TELONE™ applications "should generally be made in the fall prior to mid-November. October soil temperatures often provide the best opportunity for efficacy."

It goes on to say, "pre-plant soil fumigation and the use of appropriate rootstocks are strongly encouraged on light, sandy soil where root-knot, root-lesion or ring nematodes are present. On many sites preplant fumigation is imperative to achieve reasonable orchard productivity and longevity."

John Godbehere Explores Japanese Sweetpotato Culture
John Godbehere Explores Japanese Sweetpotato Culture

Our Teleos President, John Godbehere, recently returned from a trip to Japan where he toured sweetpotato growing regions and learned about the Japanese culture from our Japanese Sales Manager, Masato Nozawa.

Nozawa-san shared how sweetpotatoes are such an important part of Japanese daily life, and the most important crop that TELONE™ protects in Japan. Like American sweetpotatoes, Japanese sweetpotatoes, (satsumaimo in Japanese), are highly susceptible to nematode damage, so it's vital growers prep the soil with TELONE™ ahead of planting.

John and our Japanese team had a great trip through the Ibakari and Chiba prefectures learning all about Japanese sweetpotato production and culture.

Meister Media Worldwide's Annual Soil Health Report.
Meister Media Worldwide's Annual Soil Health Report.

Meister Media Worldwide's Annual Soil Health Report is now available! Our very own Dr. Randy (RM) Huckaba was interviewed for the piece, sharing thoughts on how soil fumigation with TELONE™ can be a vital part of a sustainable pest management plan.

Huckaba agrees that sustainability is an important consideration with fumigation. “The increased interest in sustainability and soil health has resulted in extensive testing to determine the potential impacts of fumigation on the soil microbiome. Teleos has contracted with an industry-leading third-party soil testing company called Biome Makers Inc. who conducted tests across diverse soil types and production conditions in multiple crops. The results indicate that TELONE™ does not decimate the soil as previously believed, but rather, has little to no negative impact on biodiversity observed in the soil microbiome,” he says.

Tobacco Research Field Day

Teleos Ag's mid-Atlantic TELONE™ Specialist Greg Roberson attended the NC State Tobacco Field Day last week in Kinston, NC. This was an excellent opportunity to interact with local tobacco growers, county extension agents, and researchers.

Tobacco growers in this region face high nematode pressure, specifically from the destructive guava root knot nematode. These pests wreak havoc on plant roots, and ultimately impact overall quality and marketable yields.

NC State rates TELONE™ "EXCELLENT" against root knot nematodes!
